Summary: "I will not buy it again."

I bought a case of this root beer. I had high hopes for it. I am disappointed. To my taste, it barely tastes like root beer. I like Dad's and Barg's the best. These are root beers with a bit of a bite. They are stronger than some. This one is just weak. It's not strong or creamy (the other end of the root beer spectrum). I am drinking it, because I have money in it. I will not buy it again.

Summary: "GREAT SODA!"

If your looking for REAL soda, this is it! For the price, this is cheap. In our area, sugar cane sodas go for about twice as much money. And the taste is truly the winning feature. It also sports a nice head in the mug or glass.

Summary: "True Old Fashioned Taste"

In a sea of fakes, Hansen's creamy root beer soda really does stand out as being one of the few remaining Root Beer originals. My wife and I purchased a 24 pack of Hansen's soda cans after deciding to give them a try. We were quite pleased with the results.

After taking her first sip, my wife enthusiastically exclaimed, "Now this is root beer!" My initial reaction was that it was a little bit more cane-y tasting than I had expected, but overall it was very nice.

I'm not really a coffee drinker, but the aftertaste gave me a very very subtle impression of black coffee, buried in a much more prominent woody tones. That tends to make me believe that if you like coffee (most people do, right?), you will love this beverage. If you don't like coffee, just as I don't, you will still enjoy this beverage. The flavor does change slightly with temperature, and I found that the best flavors came out when consumed ice-cold.

Sampling different root beers has been a journey along the road of home-brewed root beer, a venture I've recently taken up as a hobby. If homemade root beer is a hobby that you might be interested in, I highly recommend this fantastic book ([...]). It has numerous recipes for different home-brewed recipe of root beer. It's really quite phenomenal. Be sure to check out the recipe called "Rich Root Beer" on page 47.
